On the road again

At long last, today was my first exercise post-wedding. (Well, technically we exercised by walking around the Vegas strip, climbing and biking at Red Rock Canyon, and then climbing at our gym after we got back from the honeymoon.) Maggie and I went for a 55 minute walk today (2.3 miles - not great, but Maggie doesn’t mind taking the heat for that) - good start! I’m not quite ready to run yet, so it was nice to get out and do something. :)

Unfortunately, Hurricane Dean was devastating to some. Here in Florida, we were quite fortunate and got some really nice action on the shore in Cocoa Beach over the weekend of 18-19 August 2007.

Leslie joined us and braved these strong swells and crumbly breaks that pounded us and caught her very first wave!! She did GREAT and we’re so happy that she enjoys surfing too! Can’t wait to go out again (hopefully no jellyfish or expired sea turtles, though!). :)

Not really sure where the start line was, but 39:38 should be accurate enough. Yay! The high-target goal was 39 min, so I’d say this was a success.

Notes:
Matt joined for first 1mi (1.25 mi total); we did the first mile of jogging in 13:00 min; after that I kept pace to the 1.5 mile mark, but then quickly faded (2 min walk at 1.5 mile, then the jogging from there was very on/off). Still made it back in about the usual time though.
